  • Sara Hawkins

Sara was born and raised in St. Louis.  Very early she decided she wanted to be a veterinarian because of her love of animals.  In high school she volunteered at Cross Keys Animal Clinic to get and idea of what veterinarians do.  She continued her volunteer work into college when she attended Lindenwood University.  She was a Biology  major with an emphasis on pre-veterinary medicine.  After two years she switched her major to psychology and graduated in December 2008 with a bachelor's degree.  She hopes to combine her degree and interest in animals in a career.  She currently lives with her parents, older sister, 6 cats (Mac, Cookie, Mouse, Dora, Stella, and Ginger) and her gerbil Willard.

Clinic Cat

  • Lou

Lou was probably born in 2000 and came to us from the Animal Emergency Clinic in Bridgeton.  He is thought to have lost part of his tail and a toe when he got caught in a fan blade on a car engine.  He was probably trying to get warm when the engine was started.  He was treated by the AEC free because the owner was unknown.  He went on to become a blood donor and helped to save the lives of several cats.  After earning the gratitude of the staff at the AEC, Lou was brought to Heritage by Barb Maroon in November 2005 and now loves to greet people and patients and enjoys being petted by everyone.
